SLJ - Week 1 - Day 1 - Activity 1 - 2019

Activity 1: Explorers

For this activity, make a list of ten food items that you could take with you. Please think carefully about what you will take as you won’t have access to a refrigerator or freezer while at sea. Please explain why you would select each item.

10 items I need -

1. Water: You can live a few weeks without food, but only a few days without water.
2. Peanut butter: A great source of energy, peanut butter is chock-full of healthful fats and protein
3. Wheat crackers: Consider vacuum-packing your crackers to prolong their freshness.
4. Dried Fruit: The reason why I have these healthy snacks offer potassium.
5. Caned Meat, Fish, Beans: They're available in cans or foil pouches.
6. Caned Vegetables: To mix with dinner.
7. Bars and Cereal: For breakfast or bars for snack.
8. Beef jerky: For dinner . It's fulfilling
9. Nut and Seed: Nut and seed should be include in your emergency food pantry with Almonds, Walnuts, Cash and pecans that have protein.
10. Flask: I'd take a flask because it can warm up water. We could use the warm water when it's cold.

  1. Hi Francesca, this is Mrs Collins from Manaiakalani and I'll be commenting on blogs over term break. Well done on posting and participating in the SLJ this year. I like the assortment of food and drink that you picked - do you have a favourite? Perhaps next time you could put all of the information on a DLO or an infographic?! Keep blogging, and commenting on others, to increase your chance of winning one of the awesome prizes and to keep up your learning over the school break!

  2. Hey Francesca!

Congrats on completing your first Summer Learning Journey Activity! I really like how you explained why you would bring those items! I see most of your list contains a lot of long Shelf-life items, which I think is a great idea! Would you take medication with you just in case?

    Keep up the great work!
