Summer Learning Journey - Week 1 Day 1

Task - Activity 1
After you have read the quick facts about each place you must choose ONE country that you would like to ‘visit.’ On your blog post the name of the country and tell us why you have chosen to visit it. Please give, at least, two reasons for choosing the country.

I chose Australia because
* Australia is currently the third most popular destination for international students in the English-speaking world, behind the United States and the UK.
*Many international students choose to study there because of the cultural diversity, friendly natives, and high quality of education.

  4. Hi Francesca! I also love that you have chosen to visit Australia as part of the Summer Learning Journey programme. That's awesome!

I have always found Australia to be a really interesting country because so much of it is actually quite barren and empty. Did you know that 85% of the population of Australia lives within 50 km of the ocean? That is a huge number of people living very close to the water and, therefore, very close to the outer edge of the country. This leaves a HUGE amount of Australia (the entire middle section) basically empty. Most of the middle of Australia is actually quite dry and desert-like. I think that it would be really interesting to go and visit the Australian desert. They call it the 'Outback.' Would you like to visit the Outback?

I am really looking forward to blogging with you, Francesca! It's going to be so fun to learn all about Australia as you travel through the country over the next month :)

    Cheers!

  5. Hi Francesca! I'm Mark, one of the teachers working on the Summer Learning Journey with Rachel. It is so cool to see you've already completed so many activities! I hope you're enjoying your holidays too!

It is interesting that you have chosen Australia, and even more interesting are the two facts you have given! Are you an international student? I used to teach English overseas, so it's cool if you are.

    Keep up the good work!

    Mark
